the following is now out of date, of course, since he's been around for a long time. i'm leaving it up for posterity though, since i can look back & see

some people have expressed a wish to be able to send something nice to the baby when he or she arrives, so here are three options available to you.

practical gifts - nappies for those who would really love to buy something very practical (which is my preference, since you know that i will use them & i love practical gifts), is to purchase some shaped nappies ('diapers' to some of you) which i've decided to use instead of disposables. they work the same as flat cloth nappies, in that they're washable & reusable, but they're easier to use as they have elasticated legs & do up with velcro or snap buttons, so there's no folding or pinning involved. out of many options available with this type of nappy i've chosen ezy nappy.

if you decide to purchase one or two of these as a gift, you can buy them securely online & have them shipped to my post office box.

a gift voucher

a while ago, i created an online wishlist/baby shower/registry thing. turns out though, that they're making some changes with the way that registries work. i tried setting up a new one to take into account the changes, but it seems that things are still in a transition stage because it wouldn't let me create one.

the alternative then, is to purchase a gift voucher which is then emailed to me & i can choose any item i like. this may be the safer option.

gift registry

you can still purchase items for the baby from the gift registry although i can't add new items to it. from what i understand, the main difference from the old system is that the items are sent out as they are purchased, rather than being held until the date that is given for the occasion.

also, gifts arrive on their own with no way of me knowing which gift is from whom, so if you decide to purchase something, please let me know what you have purchased, so that i can thank you properly. also, this means that i can make sure the item arrives & chase it up if it doesn't.
