working hard - 09:30 PM
the computer came back last night but i was so tired that i just had no energy to do anything. i'm not really physically tired, a little bit maybe, i'm more mentally tired. it's been around six months since i had to do any real brain work in a job, so it's hardly surprising. actually if you think about it, it's been much longer than that. i was cleaning houses for about eighteen months before i started studying, & that's hard physically but certainly not hard on the brain. even before that, all of the jobs i've done since i finished school ten years ago (can you believe it's been ten years??) have been customer service or telephone jobs - they didn't require a lot of brain work either.
for the last three days i've been working at learning javascript & trying to nut out how to make drop down menus, that is, menus that drop down when you pass the mouse over them. don't you worry, i bet my site's going to be full of all sorts of cool javascript spesh things once i really get the hang of it. anyway, we finally found a great script to work from, so now it's up to me to change it & adjust it to suit the site that it's going on. i'll probably tell you all the address for it once it's up & running so i can show off!
shroom has been enjoying his job. he's finding it very challenging. it's a management position so instead of having his hands inside a computer he's doing all sorts of planning & telling other people what to do. he gets to employ his own secretary if he needs one! it's a great career advancement for him. i'm very proud of him. 
.. he works really hard.
