college's crossing - 05:50 PM
had a great day today. we took mcgarnicle the magic dog to a place called college's crossing. it's a cool place with the brisbane river running through it that used to be pretty ugly & hard to get to but they cleared a lot of trees & built some shelters & barbecues etc, so now you can go there & hang out & swim & stuff. there's signs there saying that sharks & bad, spiny fish have been seen there so i was a bit nervous but i forgot about it after a while.
it was mcgarnicle's first time going swimming, so he was a bit scared at first, but once we went further into the water he followed & swam about looking kind of nervous & holding his little face out of the water carefully. once we were out of the water he kept paddling & jumping about in the shallow parts. i think he had a pretty good time. he ran around on the big open grassy areas like a mad thing when we went for a walk. we got some unhealthy food at the cafe & he hassled the people there a bit but generally he behaved. we were actually meant to have him on a lead (we're bad, bad people!) but he was having a great time racing around, it would have been a shame to stop him.
he was such a good boy .. there were a couple of other dogs there (also not on leads) & i had a mild panic when he ran up to them as though he was going to start a fight, but instead he just stood there for a few seconds trying to look tough & then came running back to us. those other dogs looked a fair bit older than the narnicly dog, so they must have told him to stop being a silly puppy & to leave them alone.
