i went to a free macromedia seminar today. there was a paid section at the end of the day that you could attend if you wanted to but it was $100 & it was for more advanced web development people. not worth paying $100 for me to go to that. it was pretty good. mostly it was macromedia people (they make dreamweaver, flash, fireworks, shockwave, those kind of products) talking about how great their products are, but they have a right to because they do have good stuff.
i don't use dreamweaver myself for this site, i code straight in html using homesite, but i have tried it & it was pretty good. it was difficult to get used to not having complete control over the code, but i'm thinking that one day i really should make a habit of using it since it's becoming a bit of an industry standard & makes developing a site a whole lot quicker. unfortunately, i can't figure out yet how to re-install the demo version. i've had it for over thirty days so it won't let me re-install & i can't find the registry entry that controls it either .. bummer. if any of you out there know how i can make it re-install then can you please email me? i'd really love to use it for longer.
they had a lucky door prize at the seminar & four people got to choose one each from four of the macromedia products. i didn't win one. poo. when i'm a legend web developer, i might buy the web design studio which is three or four products in one. the reason i'll have to wait until i'm a legend web developer is because it's worth over a thousand dollars! you save heaps buying it that way instead of buying all the products individually, but it's a hell of a lot of money!
[edit, 25th of may, 2003: now that i know more about dreamweaver & have used it a bit for developing commercial sites, i can't stand it. it may be an industry standard, but i hate how it works.]
tomorrow & sunday i'll be working at bp again. i'm being thrown in the deep end .. i'll be on my own all day! it's going to be rather scary. i'm handling the console no troubles but there's sure to be a lot of situations that i didn't come across in my four days of training. wish me luck please .. i don't want to be faced with a crowd of angry people!! i'm sure i can handle them if it happens but i'd prefer it didn't happen.
