japanese dinner - 10:20 PM

i saw some kangaroos today. now, anyone reading this who isn't from australia might wonder what's unsual about that, since kangaroos are native to australia. it isn't actually true, though, that we all have one or two in our backyard, no matter what you've been told in the pub by an aussie travelling through your country. also, there's no such thing as snark hunting (just in case you've heard that one) .. & drop bears, they don't exist either. all these things are stories that we australians have made up to have a lend of you, pull your leg, so to speak. one thing that a lot of aussies have in common (especially young adventurous ones that like to backpack around the world) is that we like to make up bull-crap stories about our country because so many people believe them. *chuckle* lol!!

anyway, as i was saying, i saw some kangaroos. the new stretch of road that i travel on to get to work has been built through some bushland so there's still some wildlife about that didn't get scared off. i saw one this morning on the way to work. she had a joey (that's a baby kangaroo) in her pouch. it was pretty cute. then on the way home from work i saw two more just standing there watching the cars go by. i saw a wallaby the other day too. a wallaby is similar to a kangaroo but smaller & different in other ways that i don't know about. i think they're cousins or something. very similar looking.

i had dinner at dad's tonight & it was great. mum's away & he gets lonely really easily so, like he did a couple of other times, he organised a girls' night, where he cooks really delicious food to impress all the girls he knows. these girls that he invited over were ones that he used to work with at the computer shop when he still owned it. i used to work there too & have made regular appearances so i also know them.

it was a great night. six girls sitting around talking up a storm with dad sitting back listening to it or chiming in with his two cents (although his two cents is more like eighty cents), or else he'd be up preparing the next course. tonight's menu was japanese. very yummy indeed. very, very yummy.

i took mcgarnicle the magic dog with me. he loved the attention from all the girls. he mostly behaved himself. my darling was having a sleep when i left & when i told him that i was taking mcgarnicle with me he responded. he must have been more asleep than i thought though because when he woke up later, he didn't remember that i had mcgarnicle & went driving around the neighbourhood looking for him, thinking that he'd run away. asked around the neighbours & everything .. my poor honey.

when i arrived home tonight & mcgarnicle jumped out of the car, my darling said "you found him!". i was wondering what he was talking about. it's a pity that he was worried like that, but i'm glad that he cares enough to go to that much effort to find him.
