jelly - 10:30 AM
i feel like my back muscles have turned to jelly. when i try to sleep, no matter what position i lie in, my back doesn't feel comfortable.
if i lie on my back, my lower back gets uncomfortable. if i bend my knees to take the pressure off my lower back then it's not comfortable because they just keep sinking down again or my feet slip down on the sheets until my legs are straight again. a pillow under my knees isn't high enough, so that doesn't work either.
if i lie on my side then i feel as though the middle of my back is sinking too low & it's bending out of shape. even with one of those body pillows (you know the really long ones) or another pillow between my knees or in front of me & kind of supporting me, it's still uncomfortable.
so i roll over to the other side where i figure it will be better. since my back doesn't want to bend one way then it can bend the other way instead. no good that way either. it still goes all wonky & wobbly & useless. no matter where i put my legs, curled up all the way to my chest, both legs bent, one leg lower than the other or higher than the other, one leg bent & the other straight, or the opposite of that, i still just can't get comfortable.
eventually i fall asleep anyway, but then i'll wake up at some ridiculous hour of the morning & stay awake tossing & turning for about an hour. most days i've fallen back to sleep until it's time to get up, but yesterday i woke up at 5am & just gave up after a while & got out of bed.
i talked to my sister about it & she said it just gets worse as your belly gets bigger. excellent.
on a brighter note, i've discovered the magic tonic that seems to help my morning sickness which has now extended itself to all day, every day, except for about ten minutes after my daily spew. i tried the eating every two hours deal, but that didn't really help all that much & just made me sick of eating. i also tried ginger tablets which didn't seem to do much at all, as well as sucking on glucose enriched jelly beans. even dry crackers don't seem to help, they just make me thirsty.
you see, when i went to the hairdresser yesterday they offered me a drink of cordial. red or green? i chose red. after i'd begun drinking it, my nausea was gone for a good hour!
so on the way home i stopped at the shops to buy some of the exact same brand, golden circle raspberry flavour. all i can say is, god bless red cordial, elixir of the gods, blessed red liquid, amazing sugar-saturated sustenance.
mind you, i still had a spew this morning, but i've been sipping my beloved red cordial every ten minutes or so & for the most part, i'm feeling a hell of a lot better than i did yesterday.
this is the last diary you'll get from me for a few weeks. i'm packing today to go to sydney for three weeks. i'll be skipping down to melbourne for a few days too. mostly i'll be visiting my sister, her hubby & their two girls, but there are some other people that i want to see while i'm there. have a good few weeks, people. i'll talk to you again when i get back.
