single teenage mum - 08:34 PM
i bought a nice silver necklace today. my fingers are becoming puffy enough (especially in the mornings) so that i can't wear my wedding rings comfortably anymore, so i bought the chain to hang them from, around my neck, instead of around my fingers.
i made sure to get a decent quality one, because i'd hate for it to break & my wedding & engagement ring to fall on the ground without me noticing. i'd really hate to lose them.
it's not just that, but putting my treasured wedding rings on a cheap & nasty chain just wouldn't be right. it would be an insult to what my rings stand for. it'd be kind of like putting an original renoir in a cheap frame. not that i'd recognise a renoir if i fell over one, but you get the point.
i want to make sure that people know i'm married for a couple of reasons. firstly, i'm proud to be married to my darling shroom. he's the most important thing in the world to me & i want people to know that. secondly, being obviously pregnant now, i don't want people to think that i'm a single mum. there's nothing wrong with being a single mum, but looking as young as i do, people would get the whole 'single teenage mum' impression & i don't want that.
i bought a silver chain because my rings are white gold. the usual colour gold just doesn't suit me. i never wear gold. my skin tone is very pale olive, so it's kind of a yellowish tone. as gold is yellow, it just kind of fades into the background against my skin. jewellery is meant to stand out, to be a decoration, so that's why i wear silver, or white gold, in the case of my wedding rings.
i got it from hofstays in the wintergarden, a quality place. they even checked with the jeweller for me to make sure that the white gold wouldn't react badly with the silver. i wouldn't have even thought of that. its tag price was $125 but the lady sold it to me for $100. i really don't know if that's good value or not, because i don't buy a lot of normal jewellery (i usually only buy piercing jewllery), but it looks like good quality to me & the links are quite solid, so i doubt that i'll have any trouble with it. anyway, hofstays have been in business for a long time, if they were selling garbage, i'm sure they wouldn't have been around for so long. places that sell good quality also usually provide good after-sales service, so if i do run into any problems at all, i'll simply go to see them again.
you could do what I did, after I had Jade. I'm sat on my hospital bed, cross legged, and put my hair up in pigtails. The other women all said I looked like a 16 year old schoolgirl
So watch the hairstyle too!
