it's our house - 08:37 PM
we walked through our very own house tonight.
this afternoon, settlement of the sale went through as planned & we met the vendor at the property for him to hand over the keys & to show us where the switches for the pumps & things are, since the property is on tank water.
he was right on time, as he always has been, & had the outside lights switched on, ready for us. he came outside to greet us & as i walked to the front screen door & opened it, i walked inside & said cheekily, "welcome to our house," as i invited him in.
he showed us the pumps as asked & gave us two very large sets of keys, telling us the basics of which key belonged where, which we then both promptly forgot. he wished us well, & us him, we all shook hands & i saw him off at the front door.
shroom & i had a big smile & a big hug & proceeded to walk around our new house, turning on all the lights, figuring out which switch was for what, voicing our ideas for where the computers would go in the lounge room (first things first, of course!
) & the positioning of our bed in the main bedroom, grinning all the while.
i had my paint colour samples with me to get an idea of which not-quite-white we're going to have the walls painted beginning tomorrow. my mum had the great suggestion of painting largish pieces of cardboard (much better than those tiny little squares of colour) which i then held up against the walls, down against the floor & against the tiles in the bathroom. i'll compare the colours again tomorrow morning when i meet the painters there at 7am just to confirm that it is indeed the colour i want (natural light is much better for that sort of thing) & then i'll let them know which colour to go ahead with. they have a small amount of preparation to do before they can paint everything anyway, so it shouldn't put their schedule back very far at all as long as i let them know first thing.
we spent about half an hour wandering around our house. it felt so good to finally be able to call it our own. we're both very excited about moving everything in on sunday. if we could do it sooner, we would, but i haven't quite finished the packing yet & shroom's working, not to mention that the painting has to be done. it'll be really nice to move everything into a newly painted house. it'll be lovely & fresh & bright & clean.
oooh .. so exciting!
CONGRATULATIONS, CORALIE & SHROOM!!
HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!
That is wonderful. We are in the same boat as you currently. We will close on our current house next week and hope to do the same on the new house on the same day. Then I can get in and start painting. I have called the cable company and got all setup so that my cable and internet connection will be working when I first get in there. Those are the important things. I have a room for all my computers now, which I didn't have at the old house. Its going to suck packing, moving and unpacking but in the end it will be great. Your child will love being in a new house. I know my 3 are excited about it. They are already picking out what they want their rooms to look like.
hey congrats
now all we need is a picture
of you and shroom holding
the little one in the new home.
you have time to put this request together.
I can almost see the joy and happiness radiating from my screen
And that's a good tip your mum gave you. I'll keep it in mind for myself.
wow - that is so exciting to finally have the keys to your own place - sounds really nice where it is too & i'm sure you will spend many happy years there as a family!!
