mon & greg's visit from sydney - 06:58 PM
mon & greg just left here to go back to greg's parents' place & then back to sydney tomorrow. we had a huge visit! i was so glad they could come. the girls couldn't come along since riley & i are still on the tail end of our colds (& possibly still contagious), but we had a wonderful visit anyway.
monnie absolutely loved riley just as i knew she would. as soon as she saw him she exclaimed, "oh! you're so cute!" & "you look just like your daddy!" i knew she'd just love him. 
it was pretty funny actually, because then to me she said, "oh, i'd better say hello to you, too." that was rather funny. 
i didn't care, because i was also super-keen for her to meet smiley. he was the special thing which we were both especially wanting to see each other for. (ergh. terribly sentence structure there, but you know what i mean.)
it was so good to see them again .. a shame that i couldn't catch up with kelsey & britt, but it was kind of a blessing in disguise since if they had come along mon & greg might not have been able to stay for long. they stayed from about 11am until about 5pm.
lunch was perfect. we had a 'ploughman's lunch' with fresh rolls, sliced ham, coleslaw, semi-dried tomatoes, tabhouli & jarlsburg. a bit later in the afternoon i brought out some crackers, the remainder of the jarlsburg & some gherkins to snack on. it was all good.
mon had lots of cuddles with riley. one time shroom offered to take him from me when i needed both hands & offered him to monica, but she said to him, "no. it's okay. i'd like to get lots of cuddles in while i can," & she did. it was so nice to see her enjoying him. there's a pic over here.
she was amazed at what a content baby he is. she was surprised at how he'd simply sit on the floor & play with whatever was around him, or stand at the back window & look out & play with the window sill. i think (no, i know) she's a bit jealous, since both of her girls were rather more high maintenance. well, perhaps i should say that her girls were just typical babies. from what people tell me, riley is very much over the normal scale of contentedness.
i'm so glad they could come to visit. we all had such a nice time today. it was a pity that today was the only day we could catch up, but it's certainly better than nothing at all.
