clean up day - 11:44 AM

today, smiley-willing, i'm going to clean this place up a bit. since i now have enough nappies to leave the washing until every second day, my usual routine is a bit out. as a friend said to me this morning, i just need to make a new routine. that's what i haven't done yet.

there are smiley toys (some of which aren't 'real' toys, but bits of cardboard, water bottles, booties, a lint brush, etc) are all over the lounge room floor, as well as pieces of the inside of the air conditioner which the rat chewed up. the carpet has a few prickles in it, too, which were brought in on someone's shoes & which the carpet sweeper missed.

there are mcgarnicle hair 'tumbleweeds' developing on the hard floors & getting caught in the cobwebs which the spiders build against the kickboards under the kitchen cabinets, no matter how many times i knock them down.

there's fluff & a dead bug or two in the corner of the bedroom where mum & i went through all my old clothes in bags & threw much of it out, or put in a bag for charity.

in smiley's room there are two half full laundry baskets of his & our washing which i haven't yet folded & put away, as well as more of his toys.

in the kitchen are a few dishes in need of washing & one sink full of a saucepan, a bowl & smiley's mouli machine, which i left soaking in water because i forgot to give it a rinse last night before the food dried on it.

my desk .. oh man, my desk. it has two weeks worth of enjo paperwork on it as well as various things i've been attempting to read, the contents of my jeans pockets from everytime i've sat down & wondered why i'm sitting two inches higher than usual. underneath my desk are various shoes & socks which have been removed as i've finally sat down at the end of a big day, smiley's nappy bag, my enjo bags, our overnight bag from when we went away to byron a week ago for my birthday & smiley's previously air-filled ball which mcgarnicle claimed & promptly popped.

i've been keeping mostly on top of the housework for the past half of smiley's life (although the dishes are something i tend to neglect), but with a few busy days & my routine all stuffed up, i've let it go rather badly.

so today is clean up day. it really won't take all that long, once i get stuck into it & as long as smiley stays mostly happy. it's just been a matter of actually getting started, not to mention being home long enough to do it.

aside from this past week, over all, i'm rather pleased with how i've managed to keep the house looking tidy, neat & clean, while still looking after smiley & keeping him happy & healthy. go, me. i (usually) rule! *chuckle*

Don't forget, also, that only boring women have perfect homes.
