the amazing flygun - http://www.amazingflygun.com/ i have one of these & it really does work! it's an excellent way to save the world environment as well as your own house environment by avoiding spraying poisons around.

it's pretty fun to use too. i paid $7.95 for mine at the australian geographic shop & found that if you buy two or more directly from the website, it was the same price, including postage. not bad.

the 'know the enemy' page is quite amusing (as is the 'fun with flies' page), & even though it's not meant to be funny, i even found the faq page amusing.

moon pads - http://www.moonpads.com.au/product_info.html i thought this was kind of gross when i first saw it, but having now bought a few of the liners & tried them, it's not as gross as i first thought. in fact, it's not gross at all.

possible tmi (too much information) warning. if you're a guy, you may want to stop reading here.

i've found it to be less messy & not at all smelly as when i used the 'normal' disposable liners & pads. i don't soak them as the site suggests, but just fold them over & use the press studs to keep them closed until i throw them into the wash. any stains come out when you hang them on the line in the sun. also, they don't make me sweat. i always hated that so much with disposable liners & pads.

well worth a try. i only bought three initially, but i'm going to buy more. they're better for the environment & better for your health.

green shopping bags - http://www.bi-lo.com.au/more_info.htm?p1_no=187&p2_no=9908&MDay=False these are the bags which i usually use to do my grocery shopping. i bought mine from coles, not bi-lo, but i think they're the same company anyway because they both have their names on the sides of the bags. they're really roomy & sturdy & have a flat plastic insert at the bottom which makes it better for stacking items than plain calico bags.

they're not as washable as calico & you can't fit them in your pocket, but i quite like them with the good, solid handles. i bought six of them, but with a meduim sized shop (for two of us for a few days) i usually only need to use two to three bags at at time. i leave mine in the car to make sure that i don't forget to bring them with me when i go to do the groceries.

they cost $2.50 each .. not necessarily cheap but excellent value & some of the price helps to support local green groups.

thanks to jade for finding the link for me. *smile*

ozenappy - http://www.ozenappy.com/ this site is a great resource for anyone trying to decide how to keep their baby's bum clean while still being environmentally friendly & nice to their baby's delicate skin.

i'd pretty much decided on cloth nappies anyway, but this lady gives some great, unbiased, simple information about the options available.

eco-ball laundry ball - http://users.bigpond.com/safeecoproducts/ do your laundry with no laundry powder or liquid. it all has to do with changing the ph level of the water & ions or something. my aunty has been using it for years & swears by them. i haven't used it often yet, as i've only recently purchased the laundry ball, but i can't imagine that my aunty would continue to use it if it didn't work .. she & her family would be getting pretty stinky by now, otherwise.

enjo - http://www.enjo.com.au/ these cleaning products are designed to reduce the number of chemicals you use in your home by about 90%. i have a small collection of the available items & i'm absolutely thrilled with how well they work, not to mention the fantastic green-ness of it.

i had a bit of a rave about the enjo products in my diary once if you want to know all about them in the most minute detail. you can read it here.

safe for our planet - http://www.safeforourplanet.com.au/ currently i use the unbleached toilet paper from these people. i plan to use the paper towel too. i don't really have a use for the baking paper, paper wrap, or paper bags though .. perhaps once i have to pack school lunches.

it's a shame they don't make facial tissues, because i keep dozens of boxes around the house. i hate having to leave the room to get a tissue, you see. in fact, i hate having to even leave my seat to get a tissue. how lazy is that?? *chuckle*

planet ark - http://www.planetark.com/ an australian organisation started by tennis player pat cash & some dude called jon dee (whoever he is when he's not at home) in june 1991. their aim is to show people and business the many ways that they can reduce their day to day impact on the environment.

they have links to news articles to do with the environment as well as running various environmental campaigns & they give advice on how to help make the world last longer than just our own lifetime.
