january 2000 - 11:21 PM

all of the diary entries for january 2000 are now online. you can see them here.

if you're wondering why this is a long process, it's because i have to add each diary entry one at a time, manually. using mt is a great time saver, but only for the things which have been built using mt. all the old diary entries were coded by hand, so the only way to get them into my new mt system is to copy & paste the text in, one entry at a time. i also have to check along the way that any links within the entries are still valid & then correct them if they're not. getting there .. bit by bit.

in the beginning - 05:56 PM

i'm going to begin a huge job.

i'm just about to start putting in the diary entries from the very beginning of ferrousland. originally, i was planning to work backwards, but i've decided that for those who have never read the diary entries from the start of ferrousland, it might make more sense to start at the beginning & work my way through going forwards. so if you have a freakish desire to read through three years of history, it won't be such an arduous task, because you can read through a few at a time as i add them .. & in the right order.

i'll post updates to the news section here as i add them.

two things - 11:59 AM

there's a previously unforseen advantage to retaining water & having slightly swollen feet & ankles. with all the unusual soft, round curves happening down there, it makes it much easier to shave my legs & not have to worry about nicking my ankles with the razor.

a few weeks ago, i was in the shower & looked down at my belly. i saw a slight dark line & thought that i was getting the linea nigra, a dark line in your skin that traces down the middle of your belly which some women can get while pregnant ..

.. then i realised that it was actually just some of my semi-permanent hair dye running out of my wet hair. *chuckle*

like i need more worry! - 09:54 AM

oh, this is good. (insert major sarcasm)

if you're in australia, i'd be very surprised if you haven't heard about the pan pharmacueticals thing going on. if you're not in australia, it may not have made international news, but it's been a big source of concern over our side of the world over the past weeks or two.

i could explain the situation, but it's easier if i quote the therapeutic goods administration website which has been providing the list of recalled products.

"The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has suspended the licence held by Pan Pharmaceuticals Limited of Sydney to manufacture medicines, for a period of six months with effect 28 April 2003, because of serious concerns about the quality and safety of products manufactured by the company.

The suspension follows audits of the company's manufacturing premises, which revealed widespread and serious deficiencies and failures in the company's manufacturing and quality control procedures, including the systematic and deliberate manipulation of quality control test data. The licence has been suspended in order to urgently address the safety and quality concerns posed by the multiple manufacturing breaches. Where the quality of a medicine cannot be certain, neither can the safety or effectiveness of that medicine."

the list of recalled products is mammoth & is growing everyday, so instead of going through the whole list, i called the number on the side of the bottle of folic acid tablets which i've been taking throughout my pregnancy. i gave the lady the batch number & lo & behold, this is one of the products that's been recalled! oh, joy! (insert more sarcasm)

as if being pregnant doesn't provide enough worry, now i have the concern (however slight i have been assured it is) that the tablets i've been taking may not be safe. the drugs which have been recalled are not definitely unsafe but are potentially unsafe.

grrr!! like i need that worry as well!! *grrr!*
