the perils of drinking sanpellegrino - 11:25 AM
(filed under 'general')
i'm about to drink one of my sanpellegrino drinks (lemon this time, 12% real lemon juice). they don't have screw top lids, you have to use a bottle opener. this presents a problem when i have the drinks in the downstairs fridge, but no bottle opener downstairs.
i walked around for a few seconds considering opening it another way. first option was jamming the lid against a sharp edge, such as a desk, & then banging down on the top of it with the heel of my hand. this does work, but isn't good for two reasons: it hurts my hand because i'm such a girl, & when i tried it with the orange one this morning (using the street map instead of my hand) i just managed to splinter the edge of shroom's desk (do you think i was going to risk my own desk??).
i saw a set of keys on the edge of the bar (which, despite being a bar, is decidedly void of bottle openers) & wondered if i could somehow get the lid off with those. mmm, no. i saw the really large key ring near my desk & wondered if i could jimmy it off with that. no, that's no good either, not enough leverage.
in the end, i decided to just avoid the hassle & possible injury & walk upstairs to use the bottle opener in the kitchen drawer which only takes about fifteen seconds, as opposed to the many minutes it would take to stuff around with other probably ineffective tools & end up cutting off a finger when i resorted to using a knife & then having to bandage up the bloody stump, package the finger in ice & get shroom to drive me to the hospital before i bled to death.
do they twist off, like stubbies? If so, I'll show you a neat way of better the bugger off, no sweating, no straining, no bloodied finger stumps.
that would require me actually remembering to do that the next time i'm at the shops ..
