hot cross bun test - 09:23 PM
i know this is a bit late for easter, but this hot cross bun test (i found the link to the site at wnp) is really quite amusing.
so very green - 07:51 PM
i was so green today. i did some shopping with my own green bags & washed the dishes & did some general cleaning with my enjo stuff. i did use the car to go to the shops, but our shops really aren't that close by, so i don't feel so bad about that. i guess i could make an improvement there by making less trips to the shops & buying larger amounts of groceries in one go, but i did do okay in one regard in that i bought food for tonight & tomorrow night in the one shopping trip, whereas normally i would have only bought food for the one night.
once we move to our new house (it's coming along slowly but surely, showing more signs of being a happening thing) i'll have to be more organised anyway, because the shops are a bit further away than they are here, so buying more groceries at once would make sense.
i want to get even greener. i spoke to my aunty today, in perth, about some kind of laundry ball thing she's been using for years. i'm not sure exactly how it works, but it's something to do with ions (yeah, that was really helpful, wasn't it?) which means that she uses no laundry powder at all. she's a very no-nonsense woman (growing up surrounded by four (or is it five?) brothers, she couldn't possibly be any other way) & wouldn't have been using it for so long if it didn't work. she's going to email me the details of the two types which she's used.
i'm keen to use this thing at our new house, if it really does work, because all the water that goes down any drain in the house (excluding the toilet) is recycled as grey water which then comes out as overflow through a sprinkler. i'd much prefer to pump chemical free water onto our land so this would be a perfect solution. i haven't heard from her yet, but i'm hoping to find out about them soon, because our laundry powder has almost run out & i'd prefer not to buy another whole box if i can avoid it.
