after all the excitement this afternoon, i'm already quite tired, even though it's still pretty early. must be bed time, i think.

i just made my own celebration dinner. refried beans with kidney beans, four bean mix, corn kernels, some herbs & some sweet chilli sauce, on top of a soft tortilla, topped with grated cheese, gourmet lettuce mix, sliced roma tomatoes, & a spoonful of natural yoghurt, then all rolled up. yummy!

.. & now for dessert: a snickers bar.

i just can't get the smile off my face since shroom rang to tell me we got the loan. i've been making all sorts of silly, happy, squealy noises. just as well shroom isn't home yet or i'd be driving him crazy .. lol!

stupid computer. there's something terribly wrong with it. it currently takes twenty-five minutes to boot up, from pressing the 'on' button, to being ready for me to do anything on it. it began playing up yesterday evening when using windows explorer or internet explorer. i figured it just needed to be rebooted (which i hadn't done in a week or so), so after taking approximately five minutes to shut down, i let it boot while i went to have a shower. when i came back downstairs, it had only just finished booting.

i took it to work today, since there are lots of spare parts & things which i can put it into it to test which particular component might be playing up. shroom plugged it all in for me & it booted up fine. hmm. he did again just to make sure & again, no troubles at all. i really hate that.

so i brought it back home & plugged in the absolute minimum just as shroom did at work: power, mouse, keyboard, monitor. no good. i tried changing a few things one at a time: the power plug, the gpo it was plugged into, the mouse, the keyboard, the monitor. nothing made a difference. the only thing left to try here at home is to test it in a different gpo upstairs (since there's a possibility that it might run on a different circuit, although i doubt it). i won't do that until shroom comes home though, because carrying all the bits & pieces upstairs will not be good for me. if he helps me, then i can carry the lighter items.

if that's still no good, then i'll take it work again next time i go & see if it's still happy there. if it is, then it would seem that it's a power issue since that's the only thing that is different between here & work.

at least it's mostly working okay when it's on. let's just hope i don't need to reboot in a hurry anytime soon. the only other issue it's had, with explorer (windows or internet) is that it's a bit slow or hangs for a minute or so, but at least it comes good eventually.

this sounds like it could be fun: a scavenger hunt for twenty-six things. i think i plan on doing it.
