lazy throat - 02:07 PM

one of the more odd pregnancy symptoms i've been having lately (which i haven't read about in any of my pregnancy reading, though perhaps it could be related to heartburn, although i highly doubt it) is a kind of lazy throat.

shroom said a few weeks ago that i had begun snoring .. some real rip-roarers, really getting into it. he'd wake up to my huge, snorkling, growling, snorting noises. he's never reported me snoring before, so this is definitely a new thing.

once he had pointed this out to me, i caught myself a few times waking up with a kind of a choke as my throat hung back against other bits of my throat (don't you just love how i use all the proper technical terms?) & i began to make a snore noise.

i've even found myself doing this when i'm awake. if i'm particularly relaxed, or maybe distracted, i've found the back of my throat dropping so far that i have to clear my throat & take a deep breath because while i wasn't paying attention it had blocked my breath not only in my throat, but in my nose as well.

to add to my lazy throat theory, i've been choking on things a hell of a lot more lately. usually, one might have some food or drink go down 'the wrong way' perhaps once every few months, have a good cough & splutter, get all red in the face, perhaps signal desperately to anyone else in the room to belt them unceremoniously on the back for a bit & then go on with whatever it was that one was doing.

i've been doing this at least once every two or three days, sometimes more. i've done it heaps in public places too, just to add to my distress & embarrassment: shopping centres, grocery stores, antenatal classes. last night the lady taking the classes had to stop what she was doing to offer me a lolly (from her own hand bag) to suck on after i'd been trying to make little throat clearing noises as quietly as possible for about half an hour.

i think every one else in the class was glad about it in the end, because she then put the bag of lollies in the middle of the room & offered one to everyone. they were yummy .. & i didn't even choke on it. i'm so proud of myself. *chuckle*

ok, my theory on the throat situation during pregnancy...it must have something to do with all the weight in your gut, pulling down on your esaphigus ( is that how you spell that, i dont think so)....but i did the same thing towards the end of my pregnancy too; it was quite annoying if i remember correctly....and email me if no-one has ever told you the (proper) way to push if you go vaginal...i know all the guys just went,ewwwwwww....lol

I didn't know there was a wrong way to push either. I just kind of did it. And he came out with little bother.

You have to push in a most unladylike manner.. what's the old saying? Leave your dignaty at the front door and collect it on the way home...
