i was just talking to my friend dj & i asked him, "what's it like .. having kids?" his first paragraph in answer was so beautifully put:
"it's full of joy, sorrow, pain, love, excitement, disappointment. you feel each accomplishment, every skinned knee, you understand being afraid of the dark all over again."

roast chicken - 07:12 PM

thanks to my wonderful kiwi friend, angela, i cooked the most delicious roast chicken tonight. i was just going to sprinkle stuff on top of it, according to the intructions given to me by my dad, which would have been fine, i'm sure, but angela told me how to put some yummy basting stuff under the skin & then rub the left over on the outside.
with the abundance of roast chickens around, like from red rooster or coles, woolworths & the like, i've never even handled a raw chook before, i've just bought one which was already cooked. the woolworths up the road, though, has lots of organic stuff in it, as well as whole organic chooks, so i bought one.
the chook had a neck on it, which grossed me out a bit initially, but then i grabbed it & made it go "bwuarrrk, bwuaarrk, bwuk- bwuarrrrrk!" at the dog as he was waving his nose around in the air trying to smell it. i don't know about mcgarnicle, but it amused me no end .. 
so anyway, thanks angela. it turned out absolutely yummy!

my friend dave sent me this link. it's all about science & the body. there are twenty questions & it wll probably take you about five minutes. i was rather surprised at how many i got wrong!

i've added a new link to the environment category showing the green bags which i use for grocery shopping, as well as changed the category for irony central from currently obsessing to frequented since i've now caught up on all the past stories about his daughter. i've also included moby in the currently obsessing category since i'm still catching up on his past entries.
