scaring strangers - 07:55 PM

i went to the bakery today to get some bread (as you do) & there was a guy standing near me waiting to be served. i almost gave the poor guy a heart attack when rudegere tried to poke a hole through my belly, as he's been doing lately, & i exclaimed out loud, "ouch!" & put my hand on my stomach. he looked across at me with wide eyes & asked almost in a panic, "are you okay?!" i think he might have been wondering if he was going to have to help me deliver the baby right there on the bakery floor or something. the poor bugger .. rotfl!

as i've been observing the chooks every morning & often at least once more during the day, i've noticed that one of them stands out from the rest. she's a braver little chookie than the others, often the first one to stand still to allow the dog to sniff her, or even to stand face to face with the dog. while i was out there in the shed this morning with my cup of tea, this one chookie even fluttered up onto mcgarnicle's back! the dog didn't seem to mind & didn't even turn around. she only stayed up there for about a full second before hopping off but i thought it was a pretty brave move.
i'm thinking of naming her after the guy who lead the scots against the english (played by mel gibson in braveheart), william wallace. she's a girl though, so maybe i should call her willomena. i don't really like that as a girl's name though, so i'll have to think about it ..
