housewarming party - 08:10 AM

we're almost all ready for our housewarming party tonight. shroom's mate, stuart, arrived last night from canberra & is here for a few days, so yesterday shroom did bucketloads of work around the house clearing out room after room of boxes which i still hadn't managed to get put away, to make sure that stu had someplace to sleep. he also cleaned up the garage a bit, arranging the boxes so that there's even enough room to get the car in there!
between the two of us we managed to get all our tools (& garden implements etc) put away into the little shed just behind the house which is now the tool shed. originally shroom was just going to put the mower & the whipper snipper in there, but when he began sweeping out all the hay from when it was used previously as a horse feed shed, i helped by cleaning all the mouse poo & some spider webs from the shelves. we'd been putting a few tools in there, mainly due to convenience of location (also called laziness because it happened to be the place nearest to where we'd finished using them at the time), but most of the rest were scattered around two or three other locations. now all the tools are in the one place.
i suggested giving the hay from the floor to the chooks, since it was bound to be full of bugs & yummy things, so shroom stuck it all in a box & we dumped it on the floor of the chook shed. they loved it! once they got used to shroom being in there (he hasn't had as much opportunity to visit them as i have), they got stuck into it & started digging through it, looking for all the bugs. later that afternoon i looked in again & all the hay was spread out, no doubt now cleared of the bugs & spiders. we plan to get them some more hay regualrly, but it's a shame that a new bale wouldn't have as bugs in it as hay that had been lying around the floor of a shed for a number of years.
so anyway, after all shroom's hard work yesterday, the place is looking quite nicely organised & ready for the party tonight. we went shopping for all the food supplies & the fridge is chockers! all the non-fridge stuff is lined up on the floor beside the kitchen bench, ready to be turned into party food today.
it's quite foggy this morning & even though it's after 8am it still hasn't cleared. i hope that doesn't mean bad weather for tonight. at least the barbeque is under cover so we can still cook up people's food, even if we can't sit outside around a bonfire. we'll keep our fingers crossed for good weather.
i'm sure all will go well. obtw: whipper snipper? is this an edger?
yeah! although if it is cool, it will be a great opportunity for you to try out your new cloak

Coarlie is having a BABY! They have just moved into a new HOME!!!!!!!!!

Of course you are well-mannered enough to bring something.. food, nibbles, grog, a house-warming gift, something you thing they will both love and appreciate!
