chicken pox seems to be going around lately. jade's little girl, stephanie, has it & now one of shroom's brother's kids has it too. they were both in contact with riley just under a week ago. i hope they weren't contagious at the time. 
.. i'm going to have to keep an eye out for symptoms & if he shows any, take him to the doctor right away. they reckon it can be pretty bad if they get it really young.
feeding needs increase - 09:42 AM

they (the midwives) mentioned to me that riley's feeding needs would increase suddenly & significantly at some stage in the first week or so. i think it's been happening because he's been feeding voraciously over the last twelve to eighteen hours. i think my milk supply is catching up too .. finally!

up for a feed. he usually has three courses (entree, powernap, burp. dinner, powernap, burp. dessert, powernap, burp, sleep solid) & then about three hours between the end of one feed to the beginning of the next, but the feed that ended at 3am was only one course long & he stayed asleep, so he's up earlier for this feed. must be the weather. it's coolish, but really humid & sweaty. even he sweated through his cotton blanket/wrap thing. i thought the last lot was a leaked wee, but nope, i'm pretty sure it was sweat.
it's beginning to get light outside & the morning birds (kookaburras & others whose names i don't know) are awake & calling, crowing, laughing. i wonder if i'll be able to go back to sleep?
