geckos & funnel webs - 06:29 PM
i just heard a gecko outside on the porch. they eat insects, right? i wonder if they eat funnel web spiders? maybe they could eat all the ones that have nested in the porch roof beams.
the abundance of funnel webs which have appeared with the heat of summer is worrying me quite a bit. their bite is very poisonous & can make an adult very sick. it can kill a baby.

coralie, maybe you could get up there with a vac, and suck the spiders up.!? I know how you are about chem's, but its serious if you have THAT many spiders about. some sortta ultra-sonic sound wave thangy maybe, i dunno; but with little Riley about to be crawling around, i know you gotta do something. if only there was a spider shooter...LOL, damn flies!!

I closed the doors while Neil sprayed that stuff, but once he'd finished, and I opened them, I couldn't even smell anything. WAAAAY better than the stuff the commercial guys use.
And our baby gecko from a year or so ago, is getting big! He must be about six inches long now!

Gecko will only eat moths/mozzies/flys, not spiders. Get the place sprayed, but first a hard hitting hose should help too, hugs

Allow me to suggest a chemical called Permethrin, which is very effective in killing ants, spiders and cockroaches. You may not want to spray chemicals, however I'd recommend an annual treatment followed a week or so later by a good whisking with high pressure washer. Worked wonder at our place.
