you caught me - 12:35 PM
i was giving riley a lie down feed & after a while he began to squirm & throw his legs around as he sometimes does. he was moving around & kept dropping the nipple, then throwing his head sideways to grab it again. it was just kind of flipping around inside his lips as he dropped it & sucked on it again & i thought, "he's not even latched on properly, he can't be getting any milk out of that. he must be just sucking for comfort or fun." so i looked down & said out loud to him, "surely you can't be getting any milk out of that?!" he looked up at me with a big open-mouthed grin as if to laugh & say, "yep, you caught me, mum!"
obsessed - 11:19 AM
i've noticed that the blogs or journals of the people i read regularly who have had babies or have become pregnant since i began reading them write almost exclusively about their pregnancy or their baby. since i've had my own child i've come to realise that the reason for this is not that the person is obsessed with the topic, but that the baby really does take up at least 98% of your waking (& your sleeping) life. even when the baby isn't with you for some reason or other, you're still thinking about them. if you're not holding or feeding or changing the baby then you're almost undoubetdly doing something which is somehow related to caring for the child.
even though with most babies there's not much inherently difficult about being a mum, such as having to think terribly hard or having to work your body very hard, it's just so constant. it never stops.
it's wonderful.
not my spam! - 07:07 AM
some bastard spammers have been sending spam supposedly from my domain! i'm getting bounces of email i didn't send from email addresses of people i don't know. i would never send spam so if you've come to my site thinking that i've spammed you, it wasn't me! i would never do that.
i wish spammers would crawl back under the rock from which they came. grrrr!
grabbing accidentally - 06:54 AM
riley seems to be grabbing things lately, although i don't think it's intentional yet. many times he gets one corner of his bib & throws his arms up in the air so that he pulls sideways on it. sometimes he's lucky enough to get both hands on a corner each & when he puts his arms in the air he ends up playing hide & seek behind his bib. it's very cute, even if it is accidental.
