christmas chocolates - 10:47 AM

the lady next door gave me some lovely tia maria chocolates which she made (also containing cream & egg whites, so they're lovely & smooth & light) when i told her about the plan of mum & my auntie coming to visit yesterday afternoon. the plans changed & now it's just mum coming today instead. this is a good thing, because now i can eat more of them myself & not worry about not having enough choclates left for three people to snack on. mmmyummm.

i must have asked a few times already, because this morning when i spoke to mum about her coming for a visit this afternoon, i began saying, "on your way over this afternoon, could you please .." & she finished the sentence for me, ".. get you something from the shops?" rotfl!

mums are sometimes good for clothing cast-offs, my mum in particular, because she has rather good taste in clothing. the aforementioned jumper i'm wearing was hers but she doesn't like/want/need it anymore for one reason or another. on the same day she asked if i wanted the jumper i also procured a pair of shoes which had never fit her feet quite right. i wouldn't have chosen those particular shoes if i was buying them, but they have turned out to be quite a handy pair of shoes & i actually quite like them now that i've worn them successfully.
her taste in clothing wasn't always so good. i distinctly remember a time when my sister & i were young teenagers & we'd go shopping with mum & would gently lead her away from the really horrible clothes & subtley suggest other items when she'd ask our opinion on a particular item she'd hold up against herself. she's come a long way since those days. mum really has a great sense of style now. she always looks lovely.

unusually, it's cool enough this morning to warrant a jumper .. although i doubt it'll last long. looks like a really lovely day outside: clear blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds in it. lovely.

i just sat riley's bassinette (with him in it) on top of his bouncy seat & he looked ever so surprised when he kicked his legs & his bassinette began bouncing. it's hilarious (& adorable) to watch his eyes open wide when something surprises him like that. hee.
