i don't think it'll be very far down the track until smiley is sitting up on his own. already he has the strength to hold his back & head up straight, but he doesn't have the balance yet to stay up. whenever he's lying across my knees or along my lap, he pushes his head up as though he's trying really hard to sit upright. if i support him in a sitting position, he's quite happy.

Have you noticed Riley prefers sitting up to being on his back?
James needs me to prop him too, and he seems to be at the stage you described. He loves sitting up, being able to see everything and everyone in the room.
