still frozen - 08:25 PM

i took some chicken schnitzels out of the big chest freezer an hour or two ago for us to eat for dinner. a few minutes ago i thought they would be just about defrosted, so i went to get them & cook them. shroom was helping & asked where they were. "in the sink," i said. shroom replied, "nope. they're not." i was sure i'd put them in there. we wondered for a minute if maybe mcgarnicle had stolen them off the bench, but then i realised what i did. i'd brought them inside from the outside freezer & then put them into the freezer section of the fridge. mah.
they're still frozen solid, of course .. & now we're going to have to wait longer for dinner while the we defrost them in the microwave. poo.
i really need to get more sleep ..

i got a new breast pump. the other one broke this morning. i'm kind of glad now (aside from having to spend $109 or so dollars) because this new one, despite being a manual one instead of electric/battery, leaves the other one for dead! the main reason i wanted the avent isis bump was because i can pump directly into the breast milk storage bags, but then angela told me that it's the one she uses & she reckons it's great.
i absolutely agree with her. i hate the other one now. i'm not even sure if i'll bother chasing up to see if it's under warranty because this one is that much better. i guess i will anyway, just so that i have a backup pump, but really, i can't seem myself using it again .. although it could be good to express from both breasts at the same time.
i love this one so much that i feel like expressing some more milk now, just because it does it so much more effectively than the other one.

i think i did break my milk pump the other day after all. i used it yesterday morning & it was fine, but this morning it stopped giving me control over the suction. it has a button to release the suction a bit which you use to mimic a baby's sucking action & when i pressed it it did what it should, but then the suction didn't increase again. i tried the dial which makes the suction increase or decrease & that's not working either. poo bum!
i have to have a milk pump. i have to express enough milk for riley for the three days of enjo training i have next week.
i wonder if it's still under warranty? even if it is, i'm going to have to get another one straight away because who knows how long it'll take to replace under warranty? i need one now. damn it.

well, the whirring sound has started again. i seem to have all the luck with computers. let's hope this isn't a harbinger of doom as noises such as this usually are when it involves my computer.
sleeping through, kind of - 05:15 AM

i've figured out something which doesn't work well.
over the last couple of days i've been giving riley a lie down feed in the bedroom where he would then fall asleep & stay that way until his later evening feed at about 8:30, 9 o'clock or around about there. since he was already in bed, i'd then give him another lie down feed & he'd go straight back to sleep.
previously i'd put him down to sleep on his play mat out here with us & then when he'd wake for his later evening feed I'd feed him while i was sitting up. doing it that way, he was staying awake for an hour or so before going back to sleep.
since he's not been having that awake time between those two feeds he's been waking up at 4:30am & not going back to sleep. i think i prefer the other way.
noisy then not - 05:09 AM

uh oh. i hope my computer isn't about to melt down. the fan was making a really loud whirring noise, but it's just wound down & stopped. the noise that is. if the fan stopped too, then my computer might be in for some big trouble in about thirty seconds.
