chook m.i.a. - 06:59 AM

when i put the chooks away last night (a few of them had escaped that morning) i only counted five. it was already getting dark, so they headed straight in to roost for the night, but i left the gate open for another half an hour to allow the sixth chook to come home in case she was still wandering around. i didn't hold much hope for her, since usually the chooks all hang out together, but when i woke up this morning i saw a chook wandering away into the neighbour's yard. i just turned around now, too, to see possibly the same one at the porch window. unless the other chooks have escaped again, which hopefully they haven't since i tried to seal what i assume is their escape path, that'll be chookie number six, alive & well. she must have found somewhere else to roost for the night.

today riley will get to meet his great-grandma for the first time, my grandma, dad's mum, one of the people whom i respect the most in all the world. grandma lives down the (gold) coast & riley & i haven't yet had a chance to visit her there, so she hasn't met him. my aunty, therese (grandma's daughter-in-law), is hosting a demo for me today & my cousin, tash, will be there too with her own youngest boy, nicholas, whom grandma also hasn't met. i'm really looking forward to showing off riley to grandma. i know that she'll absolutely adore both of her new great-grandsons.
