rental car & a baby seat - 04:51 PM

i'm back from picking up the rental car & a new baby seat.
donna, our next door neighbour, was kind enough to drive me to the car rental place & from there i went to the shops to get the baby seat. since i was the one to pick up the car, i'm the only one so far allowed to drive it, legally, but we can go to any of the car rental outlets by the same mob & get shroom to sign a thing to allow him to drive it, too. once that's sorted out then we can get on with our usual day to day things such as him getting to work on monday.
i guess we'll find out soon what's happening with our car, if it's going to be written off or not, & we'll make a time to get all of our personal things out before it's either put in for repair or we arrange to get a replacement car.
car update - 11:45 AM

an update for you on the car situation. they (the police) called us last night at about 3:30am. they found the car a suburb or two away from where it was taken, smashed into someone's fence. the door was also smashed up so that it wouldn't open & there was glass all inside the car. that's about all we know aside from them saying it's not driveable. we spoke to the insurance people last night & they arranged for it to be towed immediately as it couldn't stay where it was until morning.
we're now waiting on the rental car people (also covered by our insurance, thankfully) to contact us about delivering a rental. if they can't provide one with a baby seat in it, we'll have to go out to get one pretty much straight away. we'll have to pay for it initially, but we have the authorisation from the insurance people to get it & that we'll be reimbursed later.
