i forgot to tell you about when i almost swallowed a fly the other day.
somehow it drowned in my hot milo, but i didn't see it in there until i'd almost finished it because it wasn't floating. it was only when i was tipping the last swallow into my mouth & i looked at the fluid as it was pouring in that i saw a black thing come swooshing along with the milo. i closed my mouth to try to avoid it & it landed between my lips. it felt like i imagined a fly between my lips would feel so i quickly spat the mouthful of drink back into the cup, managing to dribble down my chin & splatter my hands & the carpet, too.
i wasn't so sure it was a fly at first, lying there all soggy & bedraggled in the bottom of my mug, but when i ran some water into the mug to wash the milo out to see it more clearly, its wings kind of 'puffed out' in the water & i could see that it most definitely was a fly.
needless to say (although, as you can see, i'm going to say it anyway), it grossed me out a lot.

damn. my favourite glass just cracked. it was only a jam jar glass (one which is a proper drinking glass once the jam is all eaten) but it was the perfect size & had a good solid base on it. oh well. at least i wasn't as attached to it as i was to my old cow mug.

he's cruising. that is, he's begun taking some steps while holding onto furniture. my clever little boy.

that's amazing! i've just seen smiley try to put the power plug of the fan into the socket in the wall. well, it was the baby version of it. he was holding the cord nowhere near the actual plug, but he was aiming at the outlet on the wall with it. he must have seen us plug something in a few times & now he's trying to do the same. i had no idea babies were so smart.
just as well i bought the power socket protectors last week!
