rat in the air conditioner - 05:33 PM

ewww. we have a rat living in our air conditioner. a few days ago we heard something scratching around in it & assumed it was our resident gekko, but i did have the thought at the time that it sounded rather rat-like.
just before, i saw what looked like a small loop of skinny black cable hanging down from the narrow gap between the wall & the air conditioner .. except that when the dog moved towards the wall, the skinny black cable disappeared back into the air conditioner. a few minutes later it was hanging down again & i managed to have a closer look. the skinny black cable was actually dark brown, tapered to a point & was hairy. definitely a rat's tail. *shudder*
it must have crawled up the air inlet or water outlet pipe from outside & made its home in there. i have no idea how we're going to get it out. god forbid that it dies in there. yick!
can he get into the house? that's what i'd worry over most, i think. like biting riley. i'd call an exterminator and let them shake it out. yes, a dead rat in the a/c is a most definite problem.
eeww. i think we have had a couple in here somewhere but i have no idea where, i've never seen or heard any. just that when daniel's dad was over dax caught one which he chased out from behind the dishwasher and a couple of days ago he had another which i know he found inside somewhere becuase the door was shut. i wish i knew where the buggers were coming from!
