definitely whistling - 02:56 PM

i definitely wasn't imagining it! i've heard him do it three more times now & one of those times i even saw his little lips all pursed as the sound came out. i watched him just now as he tried blowing air & just made little spitty sounds instead. it's a hit & miss affair at this stage, but he's definitely learning how to whistle. when i was whistling to him earlier, i could see him watching my mouth carefully & reaching out to feel the air coming from my lips. hee.

i think smiley just whistled! really! i was lying down near him on the floor & i heard a faint whistle, just a really short one. i thought it came from smiley but i figured i'd imagined it, or else that it was a bird outside. a minute later though, i heard him do it again! he's such a clever bubby. i'd only been whistling to him for one day & it seems he's picked it up already.

the rat seems to have given up. after we heard it munching away behind the wall, it tried to find another two places to get in; behind the light switch in the kitchen & behind the switch in the bathroom as well. that was aboout a week ago, though, & we haven't heard it since then, so perhaps it gave up & went away. i'm glad. i didn't actually get around to buying any baits for it, but i really didn't want to kill it anyway. there was also the fact that i didn't want any other animals to eat the baits, including our own dog, even if he is very annoying at times.
