mouse - 07:44 AM

we have a mouse in the house. it seems the assortment of wildwife we get in & around our house is never ending. we saw it run across the floor about a week ago, but hadn't spotted it again until last night when it scared a few choice words out of me by leaping around in the pantry when i opened the door.

at first i thought it was another giant cockroach, like the that had taken up residence in the cupboard near the sink where we keep the coffee & tea type things, which i finally managed to kill the other day, even if it was unintentionally. (i was trying to catch it in an empty gherkin jar so i could simply throw it outside but i accidentally cut its head off when i threw the opening of the jar over the top of it. *shudder*)

it was much larger than the cockroach though & in the fleeting moments which i saw it, i realised it had a tail. not sure how we'll get rid of this one. there's nothing open in the pantry which it could be feeding on (although now i've said that i'd better have a close look) so it might have just been looking for food, rather than settling in for the long haul.

if you have stuff in tupperware containers, or in boxes, a mouse will eat through those.
when I lived in mooloolaba I had to put everything in glass jars to keep a mouse out!

I will send you my cat for a days to sort it out! He's getting bored with ripping up the curtains anyway!

Mice will not come around your house if you have a cat. Just the smell of a cat will keep the mice out. Works on ex-husbands too.

Aren't they the most annoying little critters? You can't keep them out of anywhere once you have them.

I don't agree that mice won't come around when there are cats around. My parents are having a bit of a plague and the mice aren't worried by the cats being around. Mind you, the cats are so sick of eating mice so don't even chase them when they see them anymore so maybe that's why the mice don't worry!
