i just saved a turtle on the road near our place .. or it could have been a tortoise? maybe we have both, i'm not sure. anyway, i was about to drive past shroom's office & i saw it on the road. before i really knew what it was, i passed over it with it going between the wheels, so i didn't hit it. as i went over it, i realised what it was. i drove back around for a closer look & yep, it had a shell & legs & a head.
as i found a place to stop, another car came along & i winced as it went by, but they didn't hit it.
i stopped just a little bit further up the road & jumped out with a towel to pick it up & move it over to the side of the road. it kind of flipped out of my hands as i took him there. it was just as well i used the towel, because i could feel his claws grabbing at it as i moved him.
i stopped by the office to check for mail & mentioned it to the two office ladies. apparently they get a few around here. i'm really glad he wasn't killed. i hope he stays off the road from now on.
our woods are full of turtles. several kinds. they are always on the roads. you have done your good deed for today.
we have turtles that do that, jillis.
I'm glad you used a towel, do you remember reading about the one I moved that peed on me?

If you find a turtle on the road, it's pretty lost because it's supposed to be in the ocean
