huge sleep - 02:15 PM
i took smiley for his walk. he enjoyed it. well, he stopped whinging while we were walking, anyway, & sat there quite happily the whole time.
he fell asleep in his stroller while we were walking. i guess it was a combination of walking in the warm sun & him being tired anyway. the heat must have helped unblock his nose, because after not looking at the front of the stroller for about five minutes of walking, i thought i'd better check to see if he needed his nose wiped again. oh boy did he need his nose wiped. he had a mucous mustache. it was pretty gross. just as well i'd brought tissues.
i took him home & since he was asleep, i simply wheeled the stroller into the house next to the bed & left him in there in a half sitting position while i lay down on the bed & rested alongside him. it may have helped to keep his nose clear (i know it helps me to be upright when i have a head cold) because he had the best sleep he's had in a long time. he slept for at least an hour in the stroller until he woke for a feed. he had a feed & then continued to sleep lying on top of me for about another hour. all in all, he slept for about two & a half hours.
he seemed to be in a much better mood after that. i guess the sleep did him some good.
the peak of the cold? - 08:23 AM
i'm wondering if smiley's hit the peak of his cold today. to say that he's needy is an understatement. i've hardly been able to put him down for more than about two minutes at a time. i wouldn't normally pander to his every whim quite so much, but i know that when i'm feeling rotten like that, it seems like the end of the world when the slightest little thing doesn't go your way. he needs his mummy today like no other day & i'm glad to be there for him.
i did the grocery shopping yesterday, so i made sure to buy some of those aloe vera tissues. they make such a difference when you have to blow or wipe your nose every few minutes. i didn't want his little nose to get all red raw.
he still feels a bit warm, so i've been continuing to give him the pain & fever relief, but he did sleep a little better last night. he only woke up perhaps two times, stirring uncomfortably & crying.
he's actually playing happily (well, mostly happily. everything he's doing is punctuated with a whine) on the floor beside me now (typing with two hands .. woohoo!) but i don't think it's going to last long. i might take him for a walk around the campus soon. put him in his stroller. take him to see the horses. i think the cows are in the field so we won't see them, but no matter what we see, at least it'll take his mind of feeling sick.
there we go. more crying & moaning & back to mummy. poor little smiley. i feel so sorry for him. he's absolutely miserable.
uh oh. i just sneezed twice.
okay. time to take him for a walk. it'll help improve his mood at least while we're still walking.
