ergh. smiley & i are both sick. i pretty much expected to get this cold. it's hard not to when you're the one that's being sneezed on most of the time. i felt bad for smiley before, but now that i'm suffering from the same symptoms, i feel so sorry for him. even if he had only half the amount of sinus pain & body aches which i've had, it's no wonder the poor little bugger was unhappy. this cold/flu thing sucks a lot.

poor little smiley had a pretty bad night on friday night. he had a few little retches from what i assume to be phlegm after he'd have a big cough, but that night at a social gathering he had a huge spew. he'd had a small cup of red cordial earlier, too (he almost never has cordial. that might have been the second time in his life), so it was pretty gross. of course, i copped most of it .. all over one arm & leg. shroom helped to clean me up & we decided to call it a night.
once we were home he got sick three more times. once when we tried to put him to bed. thankfully the waterproof thing under his sheet made the clean up pretty easy & after i turned the ceiling fan on high to dry it out, i took him out into the loungeroom with me to see if the tv might help distract him from feeling so ill. he had a really impressive foamy spew which i managed to catch in a cloth & then he settled down for a big breastfeed.
when i heard a rumble from his belly while he was still feeding, i did wonder how wise it was to be filling his stomach with milk. a moment later my fears were realised & i had fresh breastmilk gushing all over me. yum. at least it hadn't had time to curdle.
afte that effort we didn't bother trying to clean us up with a towel. i left shroom looking after the couch while smiley & i hopped in the bath.
it finally seemed to be the end of it, because when we'd finished our bath we both went to bed & after some initial tossing & turning, he went to sleep.
that was the night that i woke up at about 3am with my head about to burst open from sinus pain.
i've been coping okay. one of the good things about being sick while you're looking after a baby is that you tend to forget about how bad you're feeling while you're tending to them. last night was the worst for me, however. probably the worst sinus pain i've ever had. i was about ready to take the electric drill to my head in an effort to drain my blocked sinuses.
smiley's been sick enough to want to snuggle with me heaps. he's not really a snuggler anymore, but while he's been sick he's been snuggling his head right into my chest. he squishes the side of his face right into my breast. it's really cute & i've loved it except for the fact that him being so sick is the reason he's been doing it.
he seems to be a lot better today. hopefully he'll be over it in the next day or so.

i see you are having a rough time with the colds. i wonder if its something in the air there that you two aren't used to. different pollen or something. anyway...hope it passes soon.
