things smiley can make me understand - 11:04 AM

these are things which smiley can get me to understand that he wants to do, or have, without him knowing or being able to put the words together to simply tell me.

wants some booby (says, "doooo?" or "dweeee?", tries to lift my shirt, pull my bra down, or combinations of these)

wants the other booby (hops off the first one & says, "doooooooo?" or "dweeee?", pulls at the other bra flap or combinations of these)

wants to go for a walk (brings his shoes to me, takes me by the hand, points out the front door, brings me his sunglasses. any or all of these things)

wants something from the fridge, usually a gherkin, but sometimes a grape or two or a pickled onion (goes to the fridge & leans on the door & whinges)

wants me to fill up his little empty medicine bottle with water (gives the bottle to me & then runs to the sink & waits for me to come over there & fill it)

there are many other times, of course, where i know exactly what he wants because i know my child so well, but which i can't put my finger on because they're so subtle, or else they're just plainly obvious, so i haven't mentioned them here.

these are instructions which smiley can follow.

sit down

put it back on the fridge (fridge magnets)

put it back on the freezer (we have a tall freezer separate from the fridge)

close the door

put it in the bin

bring me one of your books

of course, all of these instructions are prefaced or followed with a 'please' to make sure that he learns nice manners.

these are the body parts which smiley can point to on himself in roughly the order in which he learned them.

ears (he grabs them with his hands & flaps them about heavily until i'm sure they're about to come off. lol!

these are the words which smiley uses at the moment. not many of them are actually completely formed words, but some are pretty close & he gets his point across, regardless.

i'm sure there are more, but that's all i can recall right now. i'll add more later as i remember them.

animal noises smiley can make - 10:11 AM

these are the animal noises which smiley can make in roughly the order in which he learned them.

he doesn't just make the noises though, he recognises the names of them & does the animal noise if we ask what that particular animal says. he also recognises a picture of them & will make the appropriate noise.

i've been thinking about listing the things which smiley can currently do/say/imitate, so that i can look back & know what he was up at about about eighteen months old, but have kept forgetting to do it, so i'm going to start now.

i'll do it one entry at a time & i may edit each entry & add to the list as i remember things which he can do but i'd forgotten to add.

so, i'll start with (on the next entry) animal noises which he can make.

is everyone away on holidays or something? this must have been the quietest week i've ever had. i've only been getting email from one or two regular people. the rest all seem to have gone awol.

i've been catching up on my regular blogs & commenting like crazy, but only one or two people have been responding. not to mention that i've been blogging like crazy, too.

i've also been expecting some at least semi-exciting mail (a game shroom bought on ebay, some jewellery supplies for me, fabric samples for making some nappies, the little yellow rubber duckie of smiley's which we left in melbourne) & none of that has arrived either, so the week has just dragged on & on & been far less exciting & much more quiet than i'd hoped.
