Feral children. What an interesting subject-though, as you say, ferrous, not so great for the unfortunate children. It's extraordinary what human beings can do to other human beings, and how it can go on for years undetected.
Sort of related to your subject : There was a case in Britain a while ago of an elderly husband locking his elderly wife in the garden shed every time he went out (often all day.) This had been going on all their married life-they had no children-and both parties thought it was perfectly normal.Apparently, the hubby had been afraid his wife might go off and find another man ! The Social Services were brought in, of course. . .but the wife refused all offers of help and opted to carry on being locked in the shed.
