jim henson's the cube - 11:57 PM
anyone ever come across jim henson's the cube? it's different to cube released in 1997 (& the sequel & prequel), but from what i understand, the premise for 'cube' came from jim henson's 'the cube'.
after viewing the totally strange, disturbing & frankly horrifying 'cube' quite a while ago & then looking for information online about it, i read about this original version & was absolutely intrigued. i wished that there was some way that i could see it. well, finally it now seems there is a way & it might be on its way to me by mail in the very near future.
to find about more, read the comment at the end of the imdb main page for 'the cube' & go from there. spread the word!
feral children - 05:44 PM
somehow i came across this site, feral children & have been been reading through it for most of the day, about children who were either abandoned, or confined, or who were literally brought up by animals. there are some amazing & disturbing stories there.
gestures - 01:17 PM
smiley has been learning gestures. we didn't teach him the gestures, he seemed to learn them on his own & has figured out what they mean & how to use them.
he shakes his head for when he's telling us "no". he's been doing that one for a couple of weeks.
the other one, which i'm not sure how he learned because neither shroom or i use it much, at least knowingly, is to indicate that something's all gone or empty, by raising his open palms upwards into the air accompanied by a sort of shoulder shrug. i asked shroom if he taught him that & he said he didn't. i didn't either, so he's somehow picked it up all on his own.
old macdonald - 11:37 AM
smiley likes to sing "old macdonald had a farm" when he looks at the book of the same title. i've been singing it to him as we read through the book & when he picks up the book he looks at the pages & sings variations of "da da" & "ba ba" type sounds for the beginning & then does the "ee-ii-ee-ii-oh" bit kind of like "ee-oo-ee-oo-ee-oo".
can this kid possibly get any cuter?
start again on groups email - 07:35 AM
you can't be serious! i knew that was going to happen! i got up during the night last night to see shroom sorting this computer out in regards to the network so that he could get his computer on the net.
in my sleepy state i mentioned that i was downloading (six thousand odd) email & the thought crossed my mind that if he stopped it to reboot (or to get some bandwidth) that it would probably have to start all over again.
he did.
.. & it does.
not happy, jan.
