poor smiley's really been in the wars this week. of course bumps & bruises are bound to happen, but this week he's had a run of them all on his head.
the first one he did with a hammer. um, yeah, we were letting him play with a hammer. with supervision, mind you, & we were just taking it off him when he tried to take it back & it donked him on the forehead.
the second one was when we were over at jess' place for a visit (i was trying to offload more of my fudge so i wouldn't eat it all) & he was trying to kill the cat. he was grabbing her fur on both sides of her face, one side in each fist & then shaking the poor cat's head!! poor thing. anyway, she wouldn't run away for some reason (she must have liked him despite his abuse) & kept giving him warnings until she finally gave him a good one right across his forehead with her claws. he hardly seemed to notice, even though it was deep enough to bleed.
the third one was that same day, in the evening, when a giant mosquito got him at the top of his forehead, right in the middle.
the fourth one was yesterday when he was throwing a little tantrum & smacked his head into the (steel reinforced) corner of the wall. he wasn't terribly happy about that one. that one got The Big Cry®.
about an hour ago he gave himself another one when he was trying to climb onto my chair here & slipped off part way up. i initially thought he'd bumped his elbow really hard, but after we cuddled & had a feed i noticed that he now had yet another bruise to add his collection. this one was on the brow bone right beside his eye.
poor little bugger. i was talking to melanie about all his bumps & she said, "you'd better not take him to the doctor." i agreed because they'd think we were beating him up!! not the case, of course. i feel so sorry for him when he hurts himself bad enough to cry hard. i know it's inevitable, but i'm his mum. i'm meant to feel for him.
it's just as well a kiss & a cuddle & a bit of boob makes everything okay again in about thirty seconds flat.

well, colour me surprised, they turned up. it seems they were with shroom because the guy drove up our driveway in a van with shroom in the passenger seat.
i'm not sure what's going on with the actual adsl itself, because he didn't install any modem. what he did do was to get our 'proper' phone line going. previously our number was through the pabx at the college, so i assume now that we'll have a normal telstra line through which we'll connect via the adsl modem .. wherever that is.
i guess shroom's on top of the modem business, or at least knows what's going on with it, because he didn't say anything to me about it.
anyway, i'm able to connect to our normal dialup through this new line, so as long as i can get online, that's all that matters to me right now. heh.

we're supposed to be getting adsl today. they were supposed to be here between 10am & 2pm. it's now 2:23pm, as you can see, & they haven't turned up. very typical. i'm so not surprised that i'm not even all that annoyed by it.
