if you're eating breakfast or something & you tend to be squeamish about gross things, you may not want to read the rest of this.
the other day, in preparation for shrooms parents coming to visit this weekend, i did one of the more disgusting things i've ever had to do.
since we moved here, the toilet has always smelled really strongly or urine. no matter how i cleaned it, the whole room would stink. when i was still doing enjo, one of the ladies there said that if you had that problem, the solution would almost always be to take off the lid & seat & clean under it. so i gave it a go.
as i unscrewed the butterfly nuts underneath at the back, great chunking flakes of dried urine fell off. it was so gross. really, really foul.
how is it that people have missed so badly that there's that much urine under the back of the seat? i suppose you could put it down to kids, but still .. that's pretty foul.
to add to the grossness, i hadn't put gloves on, because i hadn't expected it to be that bad. of course, my hands were in a direct path under the screws as i was undoing them, so the urine flakes were falling all over my hands.
anyway, i took the seat off totally & washed it well, as well as all around the back of the toilet usually covered by the seat & so far i haven't noticed any more smell. let's hope that's got it sorted.
i also scrubbed my hands really well afterwards. ergh. my child's faeces i can handle. him sitting in a puddle of his own urine after a nappy leak & me having to clean it up, i can handle. the dried urine of strangers? no, thanks. *shudder*
