following is an updated list of words which smiley says. there are a few which he says occasionally, but these are only the ones which are in regular use. i've numbered them so we can see easily how many there are.

most of them he doesn't say quite properly yet & many of them no one outside of shroom or i would even recognise, since we've seen him use them in context .. so to speak.

smiley seems to be a bit out of sorts today. he's been a bit whingy & quick to get angry or frustrated or upset. he's been far more cheeky & willful than usual, too.

also, & i'm pretty sure this isn't the reason since he wasn't really himself before this, his lips are sore. you see, today i was cleaning some pen & crayon off his books which he coloured in (he knows he's not allowed to) & he wanted to help, so i gave him his own clean little square cloth of terry nappy fabric which i use to clean up little messes. i was using tea tree oil, but i just wet his cloth with water.

he was wiping lots of things, but mostly his mouth. he's really good at wiping his mouth, actually. so he was wiping & wiping & wiping his mouth & went off elsewhere in the house. he came back still wiping his mouth & i noticed that he had been wiping so much that his lips had not only become a bit sore & red, but were even bleeding lightly in a couple of tiny spots.

i took the cloth off him straight away, of course, but even then he threw a little hissy fit because he wanted to keep wiping his mouth!

so his poor little lips have been sore & red & a tiny pit puffy for most of the day. he won't even let me put papaw ointment on them. when i get it out, he puts his head on my shoulder with his face the other way so i can't get to his lips. i've managed to get some onto his lips by putting it around my nipples just before he has a feed. makes it a bit less sore for him to feed, too.

poor little thing. i hope he feels better tomorrow, his lips & whatever else seems to be worrying him.
