ear infection - 09:07 AM
poor smiley's sick again. after only a week off from his last cold, he's now a bit sick again. he had a fever last night, but since i can't measure his temperature (much of smiley's stuff is still packed away in a box .. somewhere) i took him to the hospital to get him checked out. he did have quite a high temerature as i thought, 39.1.
we waited for ages there. it took about two hours, all up. not the most pleasant way to spend an evening, especially since smiley was quite upset for part of it.
after seeing the triage nurse much earlier & her giving him some panadol, his temperature had come down heaps & he'd actually fallen asleep on me in the waiting room, we finally got in to see the doctor & he did a few more tests. he seemed to think that it was an ear infection. amazingly enough, he didn't prescribe antibiotics immediately, but rather asked me if i'd prefer to wait to see if smiley can fight it off on his own. he said that if by wednesday he's not showing signs of improvement that it's then time that he should be prescribed some antibiotics.
Poor tyke, but he knows his mum will take care of everything. The experts say that getting sick so often as a toddler is actually beneficial to a child, builds their immune system. I believe that must be true, two of our kids were always sick as infants and toddlers, and now every bug we get bypasses them!
Hugs for both of you. Hope Smiley feels better soon..
Hospitals visits are never fun. We once spent six hours at one waiting for them to see Hayden. Lucky he wasnt dying...

Poor thing - ear infections are most unpleasant - I had them alot as a child, but mainly in the summer due to "swimmers ear", so sore! Hope he gets better soon, and you don't get too worn out in the process.
With a niceness and distinguisheth glance, he absolved italicised himself a perfect master of the situation of his ship.
