new home for the dog - 11:12 AM
since we're moving overseas, we have to find a new home for the dog. i put an ad in the paper yesterday, but haven't had any calls at all yet. it's not looking good.
to look on the positive side, the paper only comes out twice a week, so people might still be buying/reading it, so someone might call. if not though, we'll have to take him to the pound & hope someone will want him. however, the chances of people wanting a grown up dog are not high when he's put up beside all those cute little puppies. if no one wants him from the pound after a certain amount of time then it's not good news for him at all ..
is there for a famous aussie dog a new place? there are a lot better ways, for the dog then end in a pound!
How big, how old is he? Some humane agencies stateside try to place larger dogs in police dog training programs. You have no relative/friend who can take him? How painful.
About giving away the dog, most dogs in people's household are a family member. They are living creatures that have sensitive feelings. By giving it away, you will cause it great trauma. Your pathetic. By the way, don't buy another pet and screw up its life.
darryl .. by the way, learn how to use apostrophes properly before handing out abuse regarding a situation about which you know nothing.
it's you're pathetic not your pathetic.
it would be far more cruel to take our dog to a new country & keep him in a tiny two bedroom apartment with no yard than to find him a new owner who will be able to care for him & keep him in the country in an environment properly suited to an active working dog.
not to mention that an eighteen hour plane flight in a tiny cage & who knows how many months held in quarantine isn't exactly being kind.
yes, he's a family member, but he's also just a dog. the human members in this household come first.
another by the way for you, darryl. if you're going to be so 'brave' as to make nasty comments on a public blog then try to be brave enough to leave your real email address.
darryl's comment aside...
perhaps one of your friends or family could try to place your dog in a new hoome for you since you are crunched for time.

Is it usual in Australian pounds to end the life of unwanted old animals? It's not done here as far as I know, fortunately. Animal Welfare would revolt...
