packing, unpacking & selling - 10:01 PM
another seccessful packing/unpacking day today. i got through most of the last few storage containers & we had a pre-pre-garage sale sale. let me explain. we're having the garage sale this coming weekend, but shroom is inviting any college staff or students to come to a pre-garage sale sale on wednesday evening. quite a number of people approached him today to ask if they could come before wednesday so some came tonight instead for a pre-pre-garage sale sale.
more good news is that i found my cameras!! there was one single box left in the cupboard on my side of the wardrobe which i hadn't realised was there until i thought of it today. i looked & yes(!!), it was there & yes(!!), my cameras are in there. woooh!
still no sign of smiley's birth certificate though. i think that i might start the process tomorrow of procuring an offical copy so that we can get his passport in time for smiley & i to leave the country .. & if we find it in the meantime, then that's even better.
punky brewster .. who? - 09:31 PM
i was showing my age the other night when i asked the girl behind the counter at the supermarket if anyone had ever told her that she looks like punky brewster & her reply was, "who's punky brewster?"
black water - 08:31 AM
i emptied the kettle the other day after a few days where i hadn't made any cuppas for myself or anyone else because i'd been flat out doing other stuff. there have been so many ants around lately. not because of any mess that i've left out, but because they've been looking for water. when i took the lid off & looked in, the water was literally black with dead ants.
.. & shroom had been using this same kettle water for days.
ergh!!
not a baby anymore - 08:28 AM
it's at this age that more & more you look at your offspring & realise that they're not a baby anymore, but a young child.
smiley's two years & just over one month old & i remember having similar thoughts when i saw mon's edlest, kelsey, at around the same age. suddenly they're much taller than you thought. their little legs are longer. their faces don't look so babyish. they almost have real conversations with you.
*sniff* my baby boy is growing up so fast.
two things not yet found - 12:32 AM
we've gone through almost every single cardboard box & plastic storage tub in the house & every single one that had been stored in the garage & have a huuuuuuuuuge list of items (some multiples of the one item) that will be for sale when we have our garage sale.
there are two things which we haven't yet come across, though, which will cause much sorrow if they're not found. one of the items is smiley's birth certificate. we need that to get him his passport.
the other thing which i'm more worried about is a bag full of three of my cameras. there's my lomo in there, my lubitel & my polaroid camera. i distictly recall where the bag was kept in jimboomba & then in childers, but i haven't seen it since then.
there are about four or five more boxes or tubs to look through, which i'll probably do tomorrow or tuesday & which i'm desperately hoping will contain that bag. i'm going to be absolutely spewing if my cameras have gone missing. i know i haven't used them in a long time, but smiley's finally at the age where i can go out for extended periods without him & this means more opportunities for taking photos. that aside, they're not the sort of cameras which i can easily replace.
not being able to find his birth certificate is a worry, too, but at least i can track down another copy through the appropriate authories if it comes down to that.
