- (see all news for this day)

everything must go!! - 02:52 PM

since we started unpacking & repacking boxes ready to sell & then to leave the country, i've been trying to put into words how it's made me feel, seeing our lives packed up into boxes or put on display for the garage sale.

i just sent an email to a new friend we've already made in bahrain (i'll tell more about that later) & it took trying to put it into very clear english to someone else for whom english in not his first language (although his english is much better than many native english speakers & i'm sure he would have known what i meant anyway) for me to then be able to understand exactly how i feel about it. i wrote:

"we have a huge garage sale coming up this weekend & have most of our lives on sale since we're limited as to what we can bring with us. it's kind of sad to see all our stuff go, especially items which have great sentimental value but can only be sold for $2, but it is, after all, just 'stuff'. the most important things are coming with us & don't need a box or a suitcase to travel: family, memories & love."

.. & that pretty much sums it up.

And the weblog---don't forget that. That is a very important thing coming with you too. And more valuable to all the people you see all the time now.

It's so cool---we get to come on your adventure with you!
