travel plans - 05:26 PM

i've mentioned our travels plans to a few people via email, but i haven't said here what we're doing, so if you're interested, this is what's happening.
shroom leaves tomorrow, on sunday, at about midday. he'll be heading to brisbane by plane. he's going a few days ahead of me to sort out our houses there. he's going to do a quick inspection & see the tenants, just to make sure everything is as it should be. he'll stay at his mum & dad's place.
i'll be staying behind to clean up here. we have to sell the car in brisbane so i'll be driving down & taking many things with me which we'll be giving to friends & family. some will be on long term loan to them, but most things we just want to go to a good home. mum's flying up on wednesday & i'll be picking her up from the airport & starting down to brisbane immediately. seems a bit funny for her to arrive & then head back straight away. i thought it was really nice of her to do that for me. shroom's mum offered to do the same but my mum got in first. hehe. we'll make the trip over two days. it's only about a ten hour drive, but with a two year old it'll be better to take it slowly.
i'll stay with shroom at his parents' place until he leaves for bahrain on sunday the 6th of november. after that i'll go to stay with my mum while i sell the car & catch up with friends & family. smiley & i then fly out to bahrain on the 14th of november.
shroom's & my flights to bahrain follow almost the same path. they both stop overnight in hong kong & we'll both have just over half a day to spend there before heading onto the second leg of the trip to bahrain. my flight goes straight through, but shroom's has a stop in dubai. i don't think he gets to leave the airport though.
smiley & i will be arriving in bahrain at about 9:15pm their time, which is about 4:15am our time. shroom will pick us up from the airport. hopefully we won't be too excited to get to sleep.

now that most of the big &/or urgent things are out of the way, i'm kind of at a loose end. we had our last garage sale today with a fairly modest turn up, but managed to get rid of a few big things. the stuff to be shipped to bahrain is in one room, all packed & ready to go. mostly everything we'll need to travel is packed into our suitcases.
over the next few days i'll pack up everything left over into boxes or bags for lifeline to pick up on wednesday morning. on tuesday, jess is coming around with her vacuum cleaner (ours is packed away) to help me clean this place up a little bit. tuesday is also the day that most people will be coming to collect the larger items which they've bought which we're currently still using (fridge, washing machine, freezer etc), & the bahrain stuff will go as well.
this afternoon shroom will help me put the sewing machine (it's an old singer, about fifty years old, really heavy & is set into a cabinet) into the boot of car since it's going to mum's place. the other things which i'm taking to brissy for friends & family are smaller so i can pack all of those in over the next few days.
i also have a custom jewellery order which i have to finish up. i've done the jewellery for it, but i have to finish the beading on the sari. (you can see pics of the set here.) that should only take another hour or so once smiley goes to sleep.
the tv's gone, but we have a tv card in my computer so we're able to watch it here) & the big couch is gone so we're either sitting on the floor on cushions or on our office chairs which didn't sell. just as well smiley & i only have a few more days & shroom goes tomorrow because it's kind of boring & not too comfortable around here anymore.
