almost gone - 09:07 PM

it's the last night before smiley & i leave for bahrain. how did it arrive so quickly? now that it's so close, less than 24 hours away in fact, i am actually feeling a little apprehensive. it's the first time i've felt this way about going there. i'm not scared, just a little nervous & a touch sad about leaving everyone behind.
smiley's asleep. he fell asleep while i was at monica's place for dinner & went straight back into bed. i've told him where we're going, but i'm not sure how much he understands. he's sleeping soundly & will wake up nice & early since he went to bed so early, but let's hope i don't lie there wide awake with my head full of the exciting journey ahead of me.
wish me luck for the plane flights. i have a small collection of things for keeping smiley amused. let's hope he doesn't go through them all in the first twenty minutes, leaving another eight hours & ten minutes of boredom & then another longer flight the next day.
apologies to everyone who's commented for not replying to your comments. the comments are emailed to an email account which isn't quite as accessible from here (& the web interface is a bit clunky) so i haven't been checking that email address regularly. it's clogged up with spam, too, so i'll have to go through all that before i can sort out the real emails. once i'm in bahrain i'll get to replying if it's still appropriate. so thanks for all your comments, anyway. 
i'm not sure i'll get a chance to blog tomorrow since i'll be repacking my suitcases. mostly everything is done, but it's always possible that i may have to do a bit of last minute running around. even if i have nothing else to do though, i dare say i'll spend the rest of the time relaxing with mum & trying to be mentally & physically ready for the long trip.
so i'll talk to you all again from bahrain!
