we can receive mail but haven't been able to send any yet via our own email clients (as opposed to web mail, i mean) since the smpt server info for batelco (bahrain's only isp) doesn't seem quite right, at least not with the settings we have. i've tried a few things myself (unseccessfully, obviously) & have sent the link to their information to shroom, but he's doing other things at the moment. hopefully it'll be sorted out soon.

smiley & i made it. the two plane flights were not the easiest thing in the world, but we coped. the second flight was easier than the first because we had a set of seats which didn't have seats in front of them so we had a bit more room in which to move around.
hong kong was pretty cool. we walked up & down the street & around the block & almost everywhere we went, people stopped to look at smiley. one woman even took his other hand & walked alongside us for a few minutes. i guess little white boys with blonde as blonde hair are far & few between. he was very popular.
i don't have much to say about bahrain yet as i arrived pretty late last night & went to sleep not long after arriving. so far i've only been to the local supermarket with shroom to get a bag or two of groceries. the apartment is very nice looking, brand spanking new & really roomy. it's in a really new area of bahrain (even the land is new if you can believe it. it used to be in the ocean but they keep making new land by putting more sand in it) so it's relatively westernised. shroom & i are both thinking we might like to move to an area that's a bit more 'local' so to speak. there will be fewer westerners & the groceries should be cheaper, too. we'll see how we go.
that's about it from me at the moment. i'm going to send off an email or two & then relax for the rest of the day & try to catch up on some sleep. it's 11:35am in bahrain, but my body clock is still set to 6:35pm.
