despite smiley being quite good on the stairs, i knew it was almost inevitable that there might one day be some sort of accident on the stairs as he was going up & down. fortunately, he did the right thing & held on tight.
it happened a couple of nights ago. i was out at the time & shroom was home with him. when i came back, he showed me the little bump on his head. it wasn't actually too bad. shroom said that he came out when smiley screamed to find him hanging feet first down the stairs, but holding on really tight to a railing on the ballustrade. i guess he'd slipped & bumped his head on the way down.
i'm so glad he had the prescence of mind to grab hold of the railing. later, when i cuddled him & kissed his sore spot better, i told him he was very clever to do so & that it was a really good idea to always hold the railing. i suppose it was an excellent warning & lesson for him. i don't even want to imagine how bad it might have been if he hadn't held on tight.
