shroom home & presents - 11:50 PM
shroom's home. i picked him up from the airport tonight at about 7:30pm. when i say i picked him up then, that was around when his plane arrived, but it took an hour for him to get through customs, so there was a bit of a wait. smiley got rather bored but i eventually placated him with some lollies from one of those omnipresent lolly dispensers. that kept him busy for a while & until finally daddy came out & then he had plenty to be happy about.
shroom brought me home a pressie. it's an mp3 player. i've wanted one for a really long time. there have been occasions where i've almost bought a cheap one, but i've always held out. he got me a sharp hr-mb3(s). there's a not incredibly glowing review here [& edited to add a link to a nice sized image of it], but i'm holding my opinions on it until i've actually used it. it's still charging downstairs & there's another hour until it'll be fully charged. i could wait up, but i know that once it's ready to go, i'll want to spend more hours playing with it & i'll end up going to bed at 3am. far too late when i have a full day of smiley ahead, which is the way it is every day.
there are also chocolates. he went to brussels in belgium, & what trip to belguim would be complete without bringing home some belgium chocolates, the best (they reckon) in the world? i've tried one or two & the chocolate definitely is fine indeed.
so anyway, it's good to have shroom back & also lovely to have a nice present from him.
happy to leave - 01:18 PM
today smiley was happy to leave with kalyani (our lovely housekeeper) & her friend, mary. i think that the timing was mostly just luck, but perhaps the 100 fils & the promise of a lollypop from the shop just across the road probably helped as well. he left saying "bye" & even gave me a kiss.
it's so much nicer for him to leave happy, instead of with crying & tears.

sometimes smiley says things (objects he wants, usually) & i have no idea what he's saying. this morning it was something he saw as i used my hair brush & then put it back.
"mal-ko-peez?"
"huh?"
"mal-ko-peez?"
eventually i picked him up to put him near where he was pointing & he opened the little drawer with my hair brush in it & grabbed the "nail clippers".
ohhhhhh, of course!
