chicken pox? - 10:12 PM
shroom managed to go to the doctor today after his work insisted that he go (perhaps since he had to take the day off, perhaps since they saw him yesterday at work & saw the progression of his blisters). he rang the hospital for an appointment but there was still no space for him. he was advised by his work to just go there anyway.
when he fronted up, they took one look at him & took him straight in to take a closer look. a specialist wasn't due until later that day, but they must have called him & asked him to come in especially, because he was there in ten minutes to see shroom. i guess he looked pretty contagious.
their prognosis was chicken pox, but we're not sure if that's really the case since there's no itching at all & usually chicken pox will drive you crazy with the itching. at least that's what we thought.
they've given him a course of zovirax to take over ten days as well as instructions to not return to work for that same amount of time. let's hope it starts to make a difference. poor shroom is pretty miserable. as well as being in pain, the blisters themselves (there are welts under each blister now) & head & body aches, he's had to cancel his trip to be thailand to be best man for his best friend, stu. not very good.
Ow, poor man! Such a bad timing by those nasty chicken pox
Get well soon Shroom, and shame about the trip.
I was going to say it sounded so much like adult chicken pox. My brother had them last year at 40 and it was just like that. The blisters, he was told, are actually considered "shingles" in adults and the don't tend to itch as much as burn.
It's lucky he got looked at...Chicken Pox in adults can be pretty bad and carry lots of other issues.
i hope that he only have the chicken pox, and that he get wel soon as be
at least the mystery is coming to a conclusion. i was afraid it was something from his european trip (actually i was scared over the avian flu thing.)
get well soon shroom. sorry you missed the wedding. oh, and play with smiley alot so he gets it over with as well.
Sucks! Pass on my well wishes for him, and you.
oh poor shroom - hope he doesn't get any other problems that adults can get with the chicken pox & that it doesn't spread to smiley - hope he is better soon :o)
oh this sucks! I had it (they tell me) when I was an infant, but my dad only had his when he was in his 50s I think! We made much more fun of him than he did of me!!
Get well soon Mr. Ferrous!

Ohhhhh, nasty, didn't he have chicken pox as a child? Usually when adults get chicken pox in adult's (more like shingles when adults get it) can be brought on by stress. Believe me I'm a doctor (not really lol).
Bob My husband got shingles last year which resembles chicken pox but he only got the blisters with welts on his left arm. The doctor told him it is often brought on with stess.
